Treatment for Radiation Burns
Believe it or not, radiation burns do the same thing to skin that any other kind of burn does and is treated much the same way. They are also classified as first, second or third degree burns. The way you get radiation burns is via sunburn or cancer treatments. The treatment for radiation burns varies depending on the seriousness of the burn itself. Oxygen is used to help speed healing and intravenous or oral medications are given to ease pain, but usually radiation burns do not require a dressing. When the burn is not severe, pain medication and cold compresses are used.
