My Mom’s Plan

01 February 2010

A few years ago, my husband’s employer decided to give all of his employees mobile phone coverage paid for as a benefit of employment. Since it seemed silly for him to carry two phones, one personal and one for business, we cancelled his personal plan. After speaking with my mom about it, she and I decided to add me to her plan and just pay her each month. This move has saved us a considerable amount of money. Her plan added me for a small amount each month. We share minutes, but it all works out. I am truly blessed to have a mom who was willing to do that for us.

Computer Life on the Go

01 February 2010

There are so many reasons why I needed a computer on the go but the must important one is so that I could keep up with my own family that I left behind when I was away from them. What came in second to that is that I needed to be able to get it out and work in a hurry without worrying about if my battery would still be working or if I had enough space to set it up and start working. The Samsung n510 is small and compact and I can set it up anywhere yet the screen is large enough that I can see the live web-cam in almost life size.

Fixed Up Old House

31 January 2010

Last year, my husband and I bought a fixer upper house. The home had been foreclosed on and had a lot of problems. The appliances were gone. The kitchen was gutted which is typical for a foreclosure. The heat and air system was taken out and all of the copper wiring had been removed. The roof needed shingles and all of the windows were busted out. This was a great opportunity for us to fix the house up in an environmentally friendly way. We followed LEED recommendations for everything we did. The house was since sold to a young couple and they told us the utilities bills are extremely cheap.

Business Owners Prefer Web Hosting Pad

30 January 2010

A few months ago I had a chance to sit in on a business seminar, and the topic was about starting a domain for a business. I had been wanting to do this for quite some time, so I listened attentively to what they were saying. The panel of speakers all agreed that Web Hosting Pad was by far the best value for the service, and when I went home I checked out their site to see for myself. The price was better than all the rest, and the service was phenomenal. Now I am a very satisfied customer of theirs, and my business is doing better than ever.

Training to Learn Web Design for Small Business

29 January 2010

I work for a small individually owned company. They have a website already in place but they are spending a fortune keeping it maintained by the current webmaster. My manager approached me with a request.  THey want me to train to learn web design so that I can start maintaining the website. It will save the company a lot of money on outsourcing for minor changes, and I get a raise. It’s a benefit all the way around. The manager still wants to keep the original contract with the current webmaster just in case they need more major changes to the website in the future.  I do hope to be able to take care of all the day to day needs.

Four different ways on how to improve computer performance

28 January 2010

Are you lookinf for some tips on “how to improve computer performance“? There can be hundreds of reasons for the same. But on the broad scale, there are four common reasons for your system’s sluggish performance. Following are the common causes for slow computers and the corresponding steps that you can take to remedy the cause that most of the computer users have:

1. System Registry Errors: The registry keys are as important as any other part of the system, if not more. Gradually, computer’s registry entries become very messy leading to slowdown of the system. To work around this cause, all you need to do is to run a good registry cleaner that does the job for you free of charge.

2. Virus: Your computer could be infected with a virus if you download files from the internet regularly. Try to keep your antivirus updated and in case you are unable to get rid of a nasty virus, you may have to format your computer.

3. Insufficient RAM: Insufficient RAM is also one of the reasons why your computer may be running slow. For a Windows XP computer, any amount of RAM lower than 512mb is probably insufficient to provide a good user experience. To check your own computer RAM, right click on the “My Computer” icon and choose “Properties”. The only way to handle this is to upgrade your system’s RAM.

4. Spyware and Adware: Your computer may be infected by too many spyware and adware. These files cause your computer to slow down. To remove them, you can download a spyware cleaner from internet. Ideally, it would be able to detect and remove all of the spyware and adware.

Why I Bought Spyware Adware Removal Software Instead of a Game

27 January 2010

The other day I went to the computer store to go game shopping. I’m kind of bored with the ones that I have, so I wanted to buy some new ones. I was amazed at the size of the spyware adware removal software section. I asked the guy who was working there and he told me all these horror stories of all the different spyware and adware programs that are being developed today, and how they wreak total and complete havoc on peoples machines. I was surprised, and bought the latest one. I spent my budget for my game, but I feel a lot safer now that I know my computer is protected from the evil forces of the Internet.
