Arch pain
30 November 2009
Arch pain in the foot is a common presenting complaint to podiatrists. There are as many causes of arch pain as there are joints, bone, muscles and ligaments in the arch of the foot. Probably the most common cause of arch pain is plantar fasciitis and is caused by anything that puts an extra strain on the arch of the foot, such a abnormal biomechanics of the foot and obesity. Strains of the ligaments that hold the joints in the arch together is also a common cause of arch pain. Usually the most common treatment is the use of arch supports or foot orthotics.
